Playa del Inglés beach is just a pleasant 15-minute stroll away, whilst the iconic Maspalomas Dunes are approximately 25 minutes on foot. We walked this exact route on our second evening, stopping at one of the area’s fantastic restaurants along the way – the Mirador de las Dunas offers spectacular views over the golden sand dunes.

Transport links couldn’t be more convenient. Taxis are easily hailed directly outside the apartments, and several bus stops nearby connect you to other Gran Canaria resorts and the capital, Las Palmas ( a service we used on a day trip to the Canarian capital). The airport transfer takes roughly 30 minutes by taxi.

For daily essentials, two large supermarkets sit just across the road, providing everything needed for self-catering holidays. The Yumbo Centre is literally a 5-minute walk, offering dozens of restaurants near Mur Apartments and shopping opportunities.

Forget chaotic early-morning towel races – we visited the pool around 10am daily and easily secured sun loungers and parasols. As someone who prioritises pools over beaches, the pool area at Mur Apartments excels perfectly. The pool size accommodates everyone comfortably without overcrowding, enabling uninterrupted swimming. With few children staying, the poolside atmosphere remains refreshingly relaxed and peaceful.

The apartment consistency eliminates booking anxiety – with only air-conditioning as a room variable, you’re guaranteed the same high standard regardless. Every pool view balcony offers identical spaciousness, perfect for pre-evening relaxation with drinks.

The location near Yumbo Centre proves unbeatable for our holiday style. We spend considerable time at Yumbo for restaurants and LGBTQ+ nightlife (Sparkles Showbar remains our absolute favourite), making Mur Apartments Buenos Aires the perfect Maspalomas base. Being literally on the doorstep means maximum convenience.

What Could Be Better

Finding negatives about Mur Apartments Buenos Aires proves challenging, given how well it meets our holiday criteria.

Room temperature control occasionally poses issues during hot nights. Without air-conditioning upgrades, no fans or alternative cooling options exist. Standard air-conditioning in all apartments would represent a welcome improvement.

Apartment kitchens, while well-equipped, suit light meal preparation better than serious cooking – the compact design limits culinary ambitions.

Noise levels from Yumbo Centre remain minimal, but light sleepers might prefer rooms facing away from the action.

With a phenomenal pool area, clean modern apartments, fantastic pool bar and genuinely friendly staff, Mur Apartments Buenos Aires far exceeds its 2-star rating, delivering comfortable accommodation in an unbeatable Maspalomas location.

Best for: Solo travellers, couples, and groups seeking affordable Gran Canaria holidays. The property is proudly LGBTQ+-friendly – we observed various same-sex couples feeling completely comfortable around the pool area.

Give it a miss if: You’re seeking family-focused accommodation. While families do stay here, there’s no kids’ club or children’s entertainment. The pool lacks a proper shallow end for young children.

Personally, Mur Apartments Buenos Aires deserves higher recognition than its current rating suggests. While lacking luxury resort amenities, it delivers a premium experience through exceptional service, from reception greetings to poolside dining and relaxation.

Bottom line: If you want great pool facilities, welcoming staff and prime location near Yumbo Centre, look no further. We returned just three weeks ago and we’re already planning our March 2026 return visit to Maspalomas.

The consistency impresses me most. While many hotels decline over time, Mur Apartments has actually improved through thoughtful renovations whilst maintaining its core appeal. The pool area remains as welcoming as ever, the staff friendliness continues to set the standard, and that unbeatable location becomes more valuable with each visit as we discover new corners of the Yumbo Centre.

Between our 2017 and 2025 visits, I’ve stayed at hotels across Spain and around the world, yet none have matched the overall experience here. It’s the combination of factors – the excellent pool, prime location, reasonable pricing, and genuinely warm service – that creates something special you rarely find elsewhere.

For LGBTQ+ travelers particularly, this property offers that rare combination of acceptance, convenience, and value that makes holidays truly relaxing. We’ve watched countless couples – straight and gay – create the same happy memories we have.

As we plan our March 2026 return, I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Maspalomas. Mur Apartments Buenos Aires proves that sometimes the best choice isn’t the fanciest – it’s simply the one that consistently makes you happy.
